Remember that God shall take away his part out of the book of life for all those who want to change the word either adding to or taking away or even just lending your influence. This has been done. This is a serious matter. The cross showed God's love for us. Will you carry yours?
Now what does Satan propose to do? He proposes that he is capable of changing this Bible. These parties that fell understand all about heaven, and that they can bring in the different sentiments from the Bible, and they are going to have a revision of it. You will see they will make revisions of the Bible, but every one of us needs to stand intelligently on the Word. We cannot afford to be careless, but we must have that simplicity of godliness that is a virtue to us. We must have it. Ms 80, 1910 par. 10
Problems with the NKJV in a snap shot.
The NKJV isn't much different than the other modern versions. They change their text whenever it suits them. They are peddling the word for profit.
The New King James Version
2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.
The KJV,
KJV 2 Corinthians 2:17
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
The state of the dead, which most Catholics and Protestants believe in, which is Satan's doctrine that the soul doesn't die which is a big problem and deemed, Spiritualism.
Denying other clear Bible truth. If the unjust are under punishment what are we teaching?
2 Peter 2:9
New King James Version
9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,
KJV,
2 Peter 2:9
King James Version
9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Concern: The NKJV uses "under punishment" instead of "to be punished," which can imply an ongoing state of punishment rather than a future judgment.
Another spurious teaching contrary to the meaning of the text. Giving the right instead of power as in the KJV.
John 1:12
New King James Version
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
KJV John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
We are given power. Not a right. In fact it is a privilege with power from on high. Why? Because it's of grace and man can do nothing without the power of God. Jesus said ye must be born again.
Concern: The NKJV changes "power" to "right," altering the understanding of believers' capability through Christ from active empowerment to passive entitlement.
KJV John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
We are given the privilege of being laborers together with God in the saving of our souls.
Divine sonship is not something that we gain of ourselves. Only to those who receive Christ as their Saviour is given the power to become sons and daughters of God. The sinner cannot, by any power of his own, rid himself of sin. For the accomplishment of this result, he must look to a higher Power. John exclaimed, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” Christ alone has power to cleanse the heart. He who is seeking for forgiveness and acceptance can say only,— “Nothing in my hand I bring; Simply to Thy cross I cling.”Becoming a Child of God, February 21
It is the privilege of every believer, first to talk with God, and then, as God's mouthpiece, to talk with others. In order that we may have something to impart, we must daily receive light and blessing. Review and Herald, Dec. 8, 1910
See how this Bible Commentator uses John 1:12,
As the Old Testament Scriptures are
blended with the New in an explanation of
Jehovah's eternal purpose, this will be to many of
the Jews as the dawn of a new creation, the
resurrection of the soul. As they see the Christ of
the gospel dispensation portrayed in the pages of
the Old Testament Scriptures, and perceive how
clearly the New Testament explains the Old, their
slumbering faculties will be aroused, and they will
recognize Christ as the Saviour of the world. Many will by faith receive Christ as their
Redeemer. To them will be fulfilled the words,
"As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them
that believe on His name." John 1:12.
Acts of the Apostles 381
Here's why we need power.
KJV Romans 8:5-9
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
KJV Romans 1:5
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Now where did Jesus go when he went back to heaven? Well the NKJV says the Most Holy Place. Now the KJV says, The Holy Place. That would cause a problem in our understanding of the Heavenly Sanctuary and 1844.
Hebrews 9:12
New King James Version
12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
KJV,
Hebrews 9:12
King James Version
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
He obtained eternal redemption for us when he died on the cross. Then entering the sanctuary, first into the Holy Place, Jesus began his ministry of intercession.
So are we saved by our deeds? Most understand KJV Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
But what about the nkjv?
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Have been saved?
Matthew 24:13 - “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
James 1:12 - “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
Fearful tests and trials await the people of God. The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of the earth to the other. 9T 17
Every heart will be tested, every character developed. It is principle that God's people must act upon. The living principle must be carried out in the life. 1T 222
Peter's fall was not instantaneous, but gradual. Self-confidence led him to the belief that he was saved, and step after step was taken in the downward path, until he could deny his Master. Never can we safely put confidence in self or feel, this side of heaven, that we are secure against temptation. Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or to feel that they are saved. This is misleading. Every one should be taught to cherish hope and faith; but even when we give ourselves to Christ and know that He accepts us, we are not beyond the reach of temptation. God's word declares, "Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried." Dan. 12:10. Only he who endures the trial will receive the crown of life. (James 1:12.) COL p 155, 156
Revelation 19:8
New King James Version
8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
So our righteous acts are credited to us to enter heaven? I don't think so.
“The white robe of innocence was worn by our first parents when they were placed by God in holy Eden. They lived in perfect conformity to the will of God. All the strength of their affections was given to their heavenly Father. A beautiful soft light, the light of God, enshrouded the holy pair. This robe of light was a symbol of their spiritual garments of heavenly innocence. Had they remained true to God it would ever have continued to enshroud them. But when sin entered, they severed their connection with God, and the light that had encircled them departed. Naked and ashamed, they tried to supply the place of the heavenly garments by sewing together fig leaves for a covering.
“This is what the transgressors of God’s law have done ever since the day of Adam and Eve’s disobedience. They have sewed together fig leaves to cover the nakedness caused by transgression. They have worn the garments of their own devising, by works of their own they have tried to cover their sins, and make themselves acceptable with God.
“But this they can never do. Nothing can man devise to supply the place of his lost robe of innocence. No fig-leaf garment, no worldly citizen-dress, can be worn by those who sit down with Christ and angels at the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Christ’s Object Lessons, 311.
KJV,
Revelation 19:8
King James Version
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Jesus gives us his change of raiment. His perfect robe of righteousness. Our righteous acts are not what God looks at in the judgment. Not if we are repentant and forgiven. Our righteousness is as filthy rags.
Zechariah 3:4
“And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”
When fresh snow has fallen, it is sparkling white without spot or blemish whatsoever. What God is longing to teach the human family in darkness on this earth is the contrast to the light, white heavenly atmosphere. However, before we can be dressed in garments of white in heaven, we must have garments of white on earth. If heavenly beings are dressed in all white, what does God expect of the human family?
King James Version (KJV)
Hebrews 10:38
King James Version
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Habakkuk 2:4
King James Version
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
What about Godly living?
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12 KJV
Now if you don't want to suffer persecution but who really does? That is unless you're a born again Christian and want to give glory to God. Yet in the NKJV there is another option. But I wouldn't take it.
Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV
A wise woman said,
Desires for goodness and holiness are right as far as they go; but if you stop here, they will avail nothing. Many will be lost while hoping and desiring to be Christians. They do not come to the point of yielding the will to God. They do not now choose to be Christians. Steps to Christ, 44-48.
The spirit of persecution will not be excited against those who have no connection with God, and so have no moral strength. It will be aroused against the faithful ones, who make no concessions to the world and will not be swayed by its opinions, its favor, or its opposition. A religion that bears a living testimony in favor of holiness, and that rebukes pride, selfishness, avarice, and fashionable sins, will be hated by the world and by superficial Christians.... When you suffer reproach and persecution you are in excellent company; for Jesus endured it all, and much more. If you are faithful sentinels for God, these things are a compliment to you. It is the heroic souls, who will be true if they stand alone, who will win the imperishable crown.—The Youth's Instructor, May 28, 1884
Let's look at the NIV.
Tell me brothers and sisters. What is the discrepancy here?
Revelation 6:17
King James Version
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?Revelation 6:17
New International Version
17 For the great day of their[a] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”
Do you actually think the earth was formed out of water? Here's your text.
English Standard Version 2 Peter 3:5
For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God,
But here is how water comes into play.
King James Bible 2 Peter 3;5
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Genesis 1:9 KJV And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
Hebrews 11:3
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”
King James Version (KJV)
It's not quibbling when one does what God wants us to by standing on the Word that has blessed God's people for hundreds of years. There are doctrinal problems with the modern versions. I just can't skip over them. It doesn't lend itself to unity in our church.
Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Such are the warnings which God has given to guard men against changing in any manner that which He has revealed or commanded. These solemn denunciations apply to all who by their influence lead men to regard lightly the law of God. They should cause those to fear and tremble who flippantly declare it a matter of little consequence whether we obey God's law or not. All who exalt their own opinions above divine revelation, all who would change the plain meaning of Scripture to suit their own convenience, or for the sake of conforming to the world, are taking upon themselves a fearful responsibility. The written word, the law of God, will measure the character of every man and condemn all whom this unerring test shall declare wanting. Great Controversy page 268
These discrepancies are just samples. There is much more.
God said he would preserve His word and he has.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35 KJV
John 5:24 kjv
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
If in our ignorance we make missteps, Christ does not leave us. His voice, clear and distinct, is heard saying, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6. “He shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.” Psalms 72:12. COL page 173
The greatest ignorance that now curses the human race is in regard to the binding claims of the law of God; and this ignorance is the result of neglecting the study of the word of God. It is Satan's determined plan to so engage and absorb the mind, that God's great guidebook shall not be the Book of books, and that the sinner may not be led from the path of transgression to the path of obedience. FE page 131
This robe, woven in the loom of heaven, has in it not one thread of human devising. Christ in His humanity wrought out a perfect character, and this character He offers to impart to us. “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.” Isaiah 64:6. Everything that we of ourselves can do is defiled by sin. But the Son of God “was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.” Sin is defined to be “the transgression of the law.” 1 John 3:5, 4. But Christ was obedient to every requirement of the law. He said of Himself, “I delight to do Thy will, O My God; yea, Thy law is within My heart.” Psalm 40:8. When on earth, He said to His disciples, “I have kept My Father's commandments.” John 15:10. By His perfect obedience He has made it possible for every human being to obey God's commandments. When we submit ourselves to Christ, the heart is united with His heart, the will is merged in His will, the mind becomes one with His mind, the thoughts are brought into captivity to Him; we live His life. This is what it means to be clothed with the garment of His righteousness. Then as the Lord looks upon us He sees, not the fig-leaf garment, not the nakedness and deformity of sin, but His own robe of righteousness, which is perfect obedience to the law of Jehovah. COL p 311
People think it a privilege to see a royal personage, and thousands
go great distances to see one. How much greater privilege it is to be
sons and daughters of the Most High. What greater privilege could
be conferred on us than to be given entrance into the royal family?
In order to become the sons and daughters of God, we must
separate from the world. “Come out from among them, and be ye
separate,” the Lord says, “and I will be a Father unto you, and ye shall
be my sons and daughters.” ...
There is a heaven before us, a crown of life to win. But to the
overcomer only is the reward given. Sons and Daughters of God p 9
Every opportunity, every advantage, every privilege, has been given to us to gain a rich Christian experience; but we do not learn everything all at once. There must be a growth. Many, having learned a little in school, think they are ready to graduate. They think they know about all that is worth knowing. We are not to think that as soon as we are baptized we are ready to graduate from the school of Christ. When we have accepted Christ, and in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit have pledged ourselves to serve God, the Father, Christ, and the Holy Spirit—the three dignitaries and powers of heaven—pledge themselves that every facility shall be given to us if we carry out our baptismal vows to “come out from among them, and be ... separate, ... and touch not the unclean thing.” When we are true to our vows, He says, “I will receive you.” [2 Corinthians 6:17.] MS 85 1901
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35
Some claim,
PROPHECY BEING FULFILLED BEFORE OUR VERY EYE'S :
“On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a flame that sets a woodpile ablaze or like a burning torch among sheaves of grain. They will burn up all the neighboring nations right and left, while the people living in Jerusalem remain secure. (Zechariah 12:6, NLT).
But what is the truth?
“In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.”
King James Version (KJV)
Concern: In the modern version there is a false sense of security claiming Jerusalem will be secure when in reality it will not be in the here and now.
Dispensationalists, sorry to say, spin Zechariah 12 to justify Geopolitical Israel’s existence and their wars. Here again another Modern Version mistranslation. As Jerusalem of old the same fate will come upon it as it did in 70 AD.
Not only will Jerusalem be destroyed but the whole world will be.
The Saviour's prophecy concerning the visitation of judgments upon Jerusalem is to have another fulfillment, of which that terrible desolation was but a faint shadow. In the fate of the chosen city we may behold the doom of a world that has rejected God's mercy and trampled upon His law. Dark are the records of human misery that earth has witnessed during its long centuries of crime. The heart sickens, and the mind grows faint in contemplation. Terrible have been the results of rejecting the authority of Heaven. But a scene yet darker is presented in the revelations of the future. The records of the past,—the long procession of tumults, conflicts, and revolutions, the “battle of the warrior ... with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood” (Isaiah 9:5),—what are these, in contrast with the terrors of that day when the restraining Spirit of God shall be wholly withdrawn from the wicked, no longer to hold in check the outburst of human passion and satanic wrath! The world will then behold, as never before, the results of Satan's rule.
But in that day, as in the time of Jerusalem's destruction, God's people will be delivered, everyone that shall be found written among the living. Isaiah 4:3. Christ has declared that He will come the second time to gather His faithful ones to Himself: “Then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:30, 31. Then shall they that obey not the gospel be consumed with the spirit of His mouth and be destroyed with the brightness of His coming. 2 Thessalonians 2:8. Like Israel of old the wicked destroy themselves; they fall by their iniquity. By a life of sin, they have placed themselves so out of harmony with God, their natures have become so debased with evil, that the manifestation of His glory is to them a consuming fire.
But there's hope. Jesus will make the earth new and bring New Jerusalem from heaven and it will be inhabited.
"Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all." Galatians 4:6
Revelation 21:2-4
King James Version
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
2 Timothy 4:8
King James Version
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
There has been a turn about in out thinking from that in Jude 3. Don't be deceived. To love Jesus is to love the truth. Stand for it and by it and stand by Him who is the word.
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and llying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2 Thessalonians 2:7-10 KJV
